Indications To Colonic Irrigation
Medical setting
In medical settings, colonic irrigation is often indicated to be performed
in preparation to the diagnostic study of the large intestine, such
as barium enema, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy.
Colonics successfully
manage acute faecal impaction.
Doctors have also been known to use
it in the bowel training of paraplegics and quadriplegics.
Historically,
there is evidence of colonic irrigation being used as fever therapy
and for nutrient supplementation via the rectal passage.
